Guardsmen receive Distinguished Flying Cross
California Air National Guardsmen assigned to the 129th Rescue Wing are awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor at Moffett Federal Airfield, Calif., Nov. 5, 2011. 129th Rescue Wing Airmen heroically performed combat rescue missions in Afghanistan, often under hostile fire, in 2009 and 2010. Because of these actions they received the Distinguished Flying Cross, a medal awarded to servicemembers who distinguish themselves in support of operations by heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight.
