Save 948: Beijing MSC
Staff Sgt. Adam Vanhaaster, a pararescueman assigned to the 131st Rescue Squadron, attached a hoist to a patients litter to be lifted into the HH-60G Pave Hawk rescue helicopter Feb. 4, 2012. Responding to the call from the Eleventh District Coast Guard at Alameda, pararescuers, or PJs, two Pave Hawks and one MC-130P Combat Shadow aircraft departed Moffett Federal Airfield. The team provided medical assistance to a 54-year-old male who had suffered stroke-like symptoms on the MSC Beijing, a cargo ship more than 200 miles off the coast of California. Guardsmen medically evacuated the patient to the San Jose Regional Medical Center. (Air National Guard photo by Senior Airman Jessica Green)
