129th Rescue Wing Statement on Agreement Between NASA and Planetary Ventures Published Nov. 13, 2014 By 129th Public Affairs Moffett Federal Airfield -- Col. Gregory F. Jones, commander of the 129th Rescue Wing, California Air National Guard, issued the following statement on the announcement of an agreement between NASA and Planetary Ventures, LLC, a Google subsidiary: "On behalf of the 129th Rescue Wing, I would like to congratulate NASA Ames and Planetary Ventures on the signing of their historic public-private partnership. The wing will continue working closely with their teams to ensure a seamless transition to the new airfield operators at Moffett Federal Airfield while ensuring there will be no degradation to our Federal and State mission sets, in particular our combat search and rescue capability." The primary mission of the 129th RQW is to perform its wartime personnel recovery capabilities anywhere in the world. Equipped with MC-130P Combat Shadow aircraft and HH-60G Pave Hawk rescue helicopters, the 129th RQW has performed a wide variety of civilian personnel recovery missions, including the rescue of distressed persons aboard ships and lost or injured hikers, and disaster response. The 129th RQW is credited with saving the lives of 1,007 people since 1977.
