129th Rescue Wing Signs Facilities Exchange Agreement with Google's Planetary Ventures Published July 9, 2016 By 1st Lt Roderick Bersamina 129th Rescue Wing Moffett Federal Airfield, Calif. -- Planetary Ventures LLC, a wholly owned division of Google, signed a facilities exchange agreement that provides new state-of-the-art facilities for the 129th Rescue Wing based here. "This marks a significant milestone that will allow the 129th Rescue Wing to continue a longterm relationship with our new neighbors," said Col. Gregory F. Jones, commander of the California Air National Guard's 129th Rescue Wing, of the May 16, 2016, agreement. "Under the facilities exchange agreement, Planetary Ventures' construction will modernize and accelerate the development of the 129th Rescue Wing facilities on our property." Once the new facilities are built, the 129th Rescue Wing's temporary-use areas will convert to Planetary Ventures control under their current reuse lease with NASA. "The new facilities for the 129th Rescue Wing will harmonize our operations by allowing all of our sections to operate 'under one roof,' thus increasing our efficiency and mission effectiveness," Jones said. "I'd like to thank the National Guard Bureau and Planetary Ventures for working this agreement from cradle to grave, and NASA for their continued support." The primary mission of the 129th Rescue Wing is to perform its wartime personnel recovery capabilities anywhere in the world. Equipped with MC-130Ps, HH-60Gs and the Guardian Angel human weapon system, the 129th Rescue Wing performs a wide variety of civilian-recovery missions as well, including the rescue of distressed persons aboard ships and lost or injured hikers, and disaster response. The 129th RQW is credited with saving the lives of more than 1,000 people since 1977.
