Applications being accepted for CNG Educational Assistance Award Program

The California National Guard Educational Assistance Award Program has proven beneficial for Soldiers and Airmen, providing financial support for those pursuing higher education.

New applications for the 2011-2012 academic year are now being accepted.

Important dates

April 15 - Applications for new participants for the 2011-2012 academic year open
June 1 - Last day renewal applications for the 2011-2012 academic year will be accepted
June 15 - Last day for new applicants to submit all documents for the priority period for the 2011-2012 academic year

New applicant procedures
New applicants must understand that there are three components to their application for benefits under this program. First, they must complete online the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Second, new applicants must complete the online EAAP Application. Lastly, new applicants must download, print, and sign the Statement of Understanding, and have it signed by their commander. These documents are available at: www.calguard.ca.gov/education under the heading "It Takes Three".

Renewal applicant procedures
To continue in the program for the 2011 - 2012 academic year, current EAAP participants need to submit a "Renewal Statement of Understanding" and a Renewal Application. Renewal applicants need to visit www.calguard.ca.gov/education and under the heading "For Renewal of Current Program Awardees" simply download, complete, and have their commander sign the Renewal Statement of Understanding and fill out the online Renewal Application.
