Wing mourns the loss of its own

MOFFETT FEDERAL AIRFIELD, Calif. -- The 129th Rescue Wing is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our wing members Tuesday morning, Nov. 11.  He was swept into the ocean by a rogue wave while fishing at Garrapata State Beach.  His body was recovered Wednesday.  The name of the airman is being withheld until 24 hours after the notification of next of kin.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and we are doing all we can to support them during this very difficult time, said Col Gregory Jones, 129th Rescue Wing Commander.  "We ask that everyone respect the privacy of the family."

"We want to take this opportunity to thank the USCG, CalFire and the several partner agencies that responded to the search," Jones continued.  "We appreciate their efforts to help bring our airman home."
